Financial Aid Direct Data Exchange Tool
Office of Financial Aid
What does it do?
The Financial Aid Direct Data Exchange Tool (FA DDX) is a computer matching program which provides authorized data elements from individual income tax returns to the Department of Education to administer federal student aid. With consent from individuals completing the FAFSA, specific tax return data will be provided via secure direct data exchange.
How do I use the Financial Aid Direct Data Exchange Tool?
Previously, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool gave both students and parents the option to import tax return data to their FAFSA instead of manually entering the information on the FAFSA. Starting in 2024-2025, the Financial Aid Direct Data Exchange Tool (FA DDX) authorizes the IRS to provide federal tax information directly to the FAFSA upon receiving consent from the contributor.
The imported data appears to be wrong. Should I change it?
No, you should leave it and contact the Office of Financial Aid for guidance. If you change imported data, you are much more likely to be selected for verification, which has the potential to delay the financial aid offer process.
